Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery
Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that corrects eye bags and excess skin. By correcting the above-mentioned problems, blepharoplasty can significantly improve facial appearance and give a more youthful and rested look.
Each blepharoplasty is tailored to the patient’s specific needs and may involve correction of the upper, lower, or both eyelids.
The results of blepharoplasty are usually long-lasting, providing a noticeable improvement in the appearance of the eyelids for many years.
As with any surgical procedure, there are potential risks, which may include infection, bleeding, dry eyes, changes in sensation, and scarring problems. However, these risks are low when the surgery is performed by a qualified surgeon.
The results of blepharoplasty are usually long-lasting and can provide significant improvement in the appearance of the eyelids for many years. However, continued aging can affect appearance over time.

Do you have a sad look?
Do you want to rejuvenate your look?
During consultations we always talk about comprehensive treatment or rejuvenation of the look.
Patients often come to us worried about the appearance of their eyelids (excess skin on the upper eyelids, bags on the lower eyelids, etc.), but in reality there are often more factors hidden behind them that are equally or more important. In an assessment for comprehensive eye rejuvenation we have to assess all these aspects:

There are many factors that affect the look, making it look tired, sleep deprived or sad. Some are treated with surgery, but others can be treated with non-surgical techniques such as hyaluronic acid injections or botulinum toxin.
Is it possible to combine aesthetic medicine with facial surgery?
Great results can be achieved with small details such as those provided by aesthetic medicine. The key is to apply them in the right quantities and locations, and this can only be achieved if a correct initial diagnosis is made.
We will always carry out a comprehensive assessment of facial aesthetics, and you can choose from three paths:
With cosmetic surgery we can
Repositioning tissues that have fallen
Recover tissues that have atrophied over the years.
With aesthetic medicine we can
Correct small asymmetries with a high degree of detail that we cannot achieve with surgery.
Correct dynamic wrinkles with botulinum toxin.
Increase skin brightness with hydration and nutrition thanks to hyaluronic acid.

Frequently Asked Questions
Many people think that just removing the skin of the lower eyelid is enough to leave it smooth...but the reality is different!
In blepharoplasty we treat the deeper structures of the eyelid, in order to eliminate the festoons or malar bags, that is, the second bag that appears above the cheekbone due to the aging of the orbicularis oculi muscle.
Due to a weakness that appears progressively in the orbicularis muscle due to aging.
It is as if we were doing a complete lower eyelid lift. We treat the deepest structure of the eyelid in order to stretch, extend and obtain an extraordinary result.

When we carry out a comprehensive facial assessment, we may encounter cases that require only aesthetic medicine, others surgery and others, in the majority of cases, where both techniques are combined.
With cosmetic surgery we can:
- Repositioning tissues that have fallen
- Recover tissues that have atrophied over the years
With aesthetic medicine we can:
- Correct small asymmetries with a high level of detail that we cannot achieve with surgery
- Correct dynamic wrinkles with botulinum toxin
Increase skin radiance with hydration and nourishment from hyaluronic acid
No, facial surgery does not usually change the expression of the face as an “accident” or “side effect” of the surgery. We will only change the expression if that is the OBJECTIVE. For example: in faces that express a feeling of sadness or tiredness, usually due to an extreme drooping of the side of the eyebrows or the lateral corner of the eyes. In these cases, their structure and position can be anatomically modified.
Postoperative
It is not a painful surgery. There may be discomfort due to edema (swelling) in both the upper and lower eyelids. Therefore, it is recommended that you avoid straining yourself for the first 5-10 days, apply artificial tears and take the prescribed anti-inflammatory.
The first 5-10 days usually present varying degrees of pain, usually mild and limited only to the cheekbone area. Both the swelling and the bruising are usually relieved by applying cold locally and are usually easily hidden by using opaque glasses or sunglasses.
The visible swelling disappears 10-30 days after the procedure. The patient will notice that his or her eyelids are tense, especially during the first hours of the day, and this is relieved by the application of local cold. At this point, sunglasses will no longer be necessary.
Wounds usually heal within 1 to 2 weeks. Then, between 1 and 3 months after the operation, the scar remodelling phase begins. The body is left to act autonomously. During this last phase, the scars are usually barely visible and inflammation will be minimal.
After 3-6 months, the results will be quite stable, although they are not considered definitive until 12 months after the day of the intervention.
