Dr Marc Illa

WHO AM I?

“I consider myself passionate about medicine and surgery, especially everything that concerns my specialty: Plastic Surgery. Both in its aesthetic and restorative aspects, I really consider it to be a mix of science and art, applied in the same act.

My goals?

“Searching for natural results that are in line with each person’s body, offering the safest techniques and the quickest recovery possible. For this reason, for me, clear, sincere, realistic, responsible, personalized and close attention with direct contact from the first visit to the day of discharge is essential.”

MARC-ILLA

I was born in Vic, a rural area in Catalonia. My lifelong passion has always been the physiology and anatomy of the human body. My passion for these subjects has not diminished over the years, but rather has grown stronger. That is why I studied Medicine at the University of Barcelona (2009-2015). During my university studies, I began to have a tendency to go to the operating room and my interest in this branch of medicine increased. I believe that a doctor has three pillars that must be balanced to become the perfect professional: care and clinical aspects, research and teaching. I have focused my personal career on balancing these three basic points.

I am currently a specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. I completed my basic training at the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital in Barcelona (Spain), and I complemented it in specific fields of my specialty at international centers such as the Centro de Atendimento Integral ao Fissurado Labiopalatal and the Hospital das Clinicas in Curitiba (Brazil), and the St Andrew’s Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns in Essex (United Kingdom) or the Bellevue Hospital in New York (United States of America).

In 2022 I passed the European Board of Plastic Reconstructive Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS) exam, which recognizes the highest quality standards in plastic and aesthetic surgery at a European level.

However, as a specialist in Plastic Surgery, my training has enabled me to work in a wide variety of areas: cosmetic body remodelling surgery, breast surgery or facial cosmetic surgery, as well as soft tissue reconstruction after traumatic events or tumour resections, burns, facial trauma or reconstruction of congenital malformations, breast reconstruction… I am used to operating in all the different anatomical fields, from the head to the lower extremities.

I have always thought that all efforts cannot be dedicated only to a professional career, but must also be dedicated to having a full personal life. I try to find time every week to dedicate to my family and to myself. My family needs me, and even more so after the birth of my daughter Aina in 2023. On a personal level, I believe that the body is a temple in which we live and we must take care of it, both in its physical structure and in its internal vibrations. That is why I always make time to read, which I love (especially history and culture of humanity), and to do sports (at least 3 times a week I go running, especially in the countryside and forest, or if I don’t have that much time I go to the gym).

To mention the main features that characterize me, I would like to highlight that I never give up when I face problems, I am persistent in pursuing my goals and dreams, and in situations that we are not used to, I am characterized by facing them in an innovative, decisive and confident way. All these characteristics are essential for the work I do.

I really appreciate you taking the time to read these lines.
